    Ok, how do we register?
Information on registration may be found on this website.  Families must pre-register and print their own registration forms through the national eAYSO website.  These forms must be brought to one of the registration days listed on the website.  All children are welcome to join us, but registration can only be done in person.  We do fill up in certain age groups each year, so registration on one of the “in-person” registration days is STRONGLY encouraged for returning families. Certain Volunteers (returning and repeating head coaches, referees, referee schedulers and board members) are given fast-track registration and their children are guaranteed a place in our program.  Although we are a volunteer organization, the reality is that only a small group actually step forward. Accordingly, we feel it is fair to give this valuable group, who spend hours per week on the program, this exclusive privilege. Please check this website to find the volunteer position that is of interest to you.

Why can't we just mail our registrations in, why do we have to sign up in person?
As noted above, Certain Volunteers (returning and repeating head coaches, referees, referee schedulers and board members) are given fast-track and guaranteed registration.  Although we are a volunteer organization, the reality is that only a small group actually step forward to participate in their kids’ program. Requesting everyone to show up in person, gives us a chance to help those who have not yet found their niche. We feel that the vast majority would make themselves available if they knew what was needed and could match that up to their strengths and interests. Come talk to us and let’s figure it out together. Until then, please check this website to read about the volunteer positions that are typically offered. If you have other ideas, please let us know.

Who needs to attend orientation? Why is it required?
All familis that are new to Region 70, or did not play in Region 70 in the immediately prior season, are required to attend a half hour orientation. The purpose of the orientation is for the Region to share the philosophies of AYSO, the rules of our region and expectations with our prospective registrants. At the conclusion of the orientation, attendees can make an informed decision if our region is a good match for them before they submit their registration packets.

I cannot afford to pay the registration fees.  What can I do?
AYSO Region 70, West LA endeavors to provide a quality soccer experience for all eligible players.  Families who are unable to afford the registration fees in full should contact the Regional Commissioner to discuss the situation on one of our registration days.

How long does the season last?
The first game of the season begins on the second Saturday after Labor Day in September. The playoffs are completed in mid-December. Please refer to our Region 70 Calendar for more details.

Will my son be on the same team as his brother?
Requests for brothers and sisters to be on the same team will be honored whenever possible.  Often, however, a parent may decide that it is not a good idea for their children to be together, which will also be honored whenever possible.  These requests must be noted on each player's registration form.

How do I request for my child to be placed on a team with team practices on specific days?
Practices can be on any one day during the week, Monday through Friday, and are at the convenience of the coach.  There is no way to assign players to coaches based on a specific choice of practice days. Accordingly, we ask you to offer more than one possible practice day when signing up.

I am a single parent, cannot drive to practices, and need my child to play with a friend.  What can I do?
We have approximately 1,200 children playing in our Region. It is thus not possible to accommodate these special requests.  The regional commissioners, when developing the teams, need to consider many factors in the creation of teams.  Balancing of the teams is the most important consideration to maximize the fun for all our participants. Parents are usually able to make car-pooling arrangements with other team parents.

My son can't make it to practices on the days the coach has chosen. What can I do?
If the problem is transportation, just speak to the coach or team parents. There is always someone who will be available and willing to give your child a ride. If there are other activities (such as lessons of some kind), maybe it would be possible to adjust the schedule. It is extremely important to make it to practice. Your child is involved in a team sport. The team cannot learn to work together if there are players who consistently miss practices. If this is a chronic problem, parents should consider whether their child is over-scheduled and should drop one or more activities.

When will we be notified if my child that registered late via mail has been accepted on a team?
Once your Player Registration Form is mailed in as directed, then you are on the waiting list for the appropriate division.  Late registrants for divisions which have not yet reached their capacity are placed on teams soon after receipt of the form.  If you did not hear back promptly, the division is probably full and your child is on the wait list. Every attempt is made to have all players participate.  The total number of players in each division is determined based on the number of trained coaches available, field space and the number of players that sign up.  Except for the children of coaches and referees, who are vital to our program, all players are processed on a first-come first-served basis. Parents tend not to un-register their kids when they move away or decide not to play, so we generally do not know who is not going to play until the initial telephone calls are made by the coaches in late August. If your wait-listed child can be placed on a team, you are most likely to receive a call later in August.

My child doesn't want to play anymore - are refunds available?
Yes.  Please let us know as soon as possible, since there may be a player on a waiting list that can be accommodated.  All requests for refunds must be made in writing to our Regional Commissioner by no later than the first game of the season. There are no refunds after that date.

I have moved - how do I transfer my son to a new region?
Every region in AYSO conducts their own registration for the upcoming season.  Transfers are not possible and one needs to go through the registration process with the new region again.

Is there a program for children with special needs?
Yes!  The VIP program is designed to meet the needs of physically and mentally challenged children. Please call 310 454 KICK or send an e-mail to info@ayso69.org for additional information about this program in our own Area 1P.

    Are there coed teams?
No. We used to have co-ed teams at U6, but there was an overwhelming preference for girls to play separately from the boys.

What does the registration fee cover?
The registration fee covers each player’s complete AYSO experience, including complete uniforms (jersey, shorts and socks), the basic picture package (team and individual), and supplemental accident insurance for AYSO-sponsored activities.  We also have to pay for the fields. Not included are the required shin-guards, appropriate shoes, and a practice ball.

What other soccer costs should we expect to pay during the season?
Typically, the team parent will request a small amount to cover the season ending team party and possibly a gift for the coach and assistant coach.  Additionally, each family is requested to provide water, snacks and drinks for the team at one game during the season.
