News Alert:
AYSO Families Can Have Say In LA Rec Budget!

AYSO families living in the City and County of Los Angeles
have the opportunity to be heard about the urgency
of recreation facilities including soccer fields.

The Los Angeles City Mayor’s Office is conducting
a public online survey of citizens
to determine budget priorities for the coming fiscal year.
Please

AYSO is here to help Los Angeles Recreation & Parks and
Los Angeles County and Recreations, and all the families
and children of Southern California.

Los Angeles is facing very severe financial problems
and the budget issues have a direct impact on youth recreation
in the city and county.
The Department of Recreation and Parks took a
$25,000,000 cut to its budget in 2009-2010.
As a result, recreation, senior, child care and other facilities
are now closed on holidays.

Even more drastic cuts may be coming
in the 2010-2011 budget proposals.
AYSO wants the decision makers to know how important open fields
and playing soccer is to the kids of our communities.

Here are three things you can do:

Please take the time to fill out the Mayor’s survey.

Communicate with your local civic representatives
on the importance of the Recreation & Parks budget.

Write the Common Council Budget and
Finance Committee Members on the importance
of keeping fields and facilities open for children
to participate in AYSO soccer programs.

AYSO is here to help Los Angeles Recreation & Parks and
Los Angeles County and Recreations, their employees
and all the children in Southern California.

How?

There are various, really easy ways to demonstrate Respect for Our AYSO Referees.

Remember, referees are moms and dads, just like us,
who volunteer so our kids can play and do not get paid.
Greet referees with a smile before your child's game.
Offer them a water or other drink - before the game, at halftime or after the game.
Recognize they are trained referees and accept their decisions.
Don't yell at them or ask questions during games.
Thank them after the game.
Offer them snack if you have left-overs.
Encourage every player to thank the referees after each game.
Be supportive of the referees in post game conversations with other parents and your child.

Any other ideas to demonstrate respect?
Please send them to our webmaster.

So what’s it all about?

Any guesses as to this U12 player's favorite place?
