Coach Certifications

AYSO Region 70 coach certification primer – please make sure to complete all the steps!

1.    Check the box. Log into the Region 70 InLeague website at www.ayso70.org and go to your family profile. Click the box for the appropriate volunteer position (head coach, assistant coach). This will list you as a coach in our system.

2.    Update AYSO Volunteer Status. Register (or re‐register – this must be done annually) as a Region 70 volunteer at www.eayso.org. Make sure to follow this through to the e‐signature page. (If you have trouble with the page, please see our detailed instructions at http://www.ayso70.org/coaching-volunteer-registration/.)

3.    Safe Haven and CDC Concussion Awareness. Complete the online Safe Haven and CDC Concussion Awareness courses at https://AYSOU.org/. You can use your eayso.org login credentials to enter the site. These online courses do not have to be repeated if you have taken them previously; however, if your Safe Haven certificate is the older live Safe Haven (or Coach Safe Haven) course taught years ago, you will need to complete the online version.

4.    Age-specific Coach Training. Complete the required coaching coursework for your volunteer position - all online classes and course registrations are available at at https://AYSOU.org/:

a. U6 Coaching – Complete the online U6 Coach class. This course will cost $7 and Region 70 will reimburse this expense. Please contact your division director for details. Please email a copy of your completed course certificate to your division director as proof of completion.

b. U7/U8 Coaching – Complete the online U8 Coach class. This course will cost $7 and Region 70 will reimburse this expense. Please contact your division director for details. Please email a copy of your completed course certificate to your division director as proof of completion.

c. U10 Coaching – Register for and complete a U10 Coach class. The U10 class is available as a full in-person course or as an online class combined with a live U10 Field Only session. Note that taking the online U10 course alone is insufficient for complete U10 Coach certification – you must take a live class. Region 70 is offering a live course on August 25 that will enable coaches to certify to both U10 and U12 on the same day (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Westwood Park Recreation Center) – these courses include the classroom work. Please send your division director proof of course completion. If you attend another Region’s class and incur a fee, Region 70 will reimburse this expense – contact your division director.

d. U12 Coaching – Register for and complete an in‐person U12 Coach class. Region 70 is offering a live course on August 25 that will enable coaches to certify to both U10 and U12 on the same day (9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Westwood Park Recreation Center.) Please send your division director proof of course completion. If you attend another Region’s class and incur a fee, Region 70 will reimburse this expense – contact your division director.

e. U14 Coaching – Register for and complete an in‐person Intermediate Coach class. You must also complete the online Intermediate Coach class at aysou.org. You must have a U12 coach certification in order to register for and complete the Intermediate Coach class. Please send your division director proof of course completion. Region 70 will reimburse course expenses – please contact your division director.

f. Upper Divisions (U16 and U19) – Register for and complete an in‐person Advanced Coach class. You must have an Intermediate Coach certification in order to register for and complete the Advanced Coach class. Please send your division director proof of course completion. Region 70 will reimburse course expenses – please contact your division director.

Your division commissioners must be provided your certification progress – everyone must be completely certified in order to coach on Opening Day.
